Keeping the Faith.

I’m on my way home right now. I just came across something worth sharing, something really heartwarming.

A few moments ago, the jeepney I am riding right now stopped in front of a church due to heavy traffic. It was then that I saw a teenage girl, about a few years younger than I am, sitting on the floor, at the side of the church gates, talking to an elderly woman who was also sitting on the floor. It seems that they were really happily talking about something. I actually attempted to take a photo of that happy moment they were having, but it was a bit dark. A few moments later, I read the lips of the girl say ‘maraming salamat po’, meaning thank you very much. She stood up, shook the hand of the old lady, then left smiling.

A few moments later, the jeepney I was on stopped right next to the old lady. I saw that she has lots of stuff at the side; medicines, water, a roll of tissue, etc. It came to me that she was treating the side of the church as her home. But what I saw next really touched me. She has a crucifix among her stuff.

This just goes to show that even though she doesn’t have a home, though she doesn’t have much, she hasn’t lost her faith.

If only all people were like her.
